THE OPENING

And just like that the doors were opened…

All that dreaming, all that planning, all that working, all those decisions, all those tries, fails, tries wins, and it was finally ready to be revealed to our loved ones.

And not just the space, but our reasons for being (see our first post The Dream here). The challenges we faced as returning professionals, and how we were planning on overcoming them and growing forward with others similarly visioned.

We started co-working from the get-go. Our friends at KARRIKIN created the most delectable culinary offerings for the evening that had guests audibly gasping with delight. We had written their restaurant menu copy a few weeks prior and they very kindly supported us for our opening night. Guests grazed on delicacies of smoked fish toast, asparagus and prosciutto, and Yamba prawn cocktails. Our mates from nomadic bar company Dusk Till Dawn brought down the house with signature cocktails of elderflower, Bombay blue sapphire, and Clarence rivermint, and rosemary botanical water, ink gin and pink grapefruit. We gave them a hand at their awesome first event as a new business, and couldn’t have been more thrilled when they returned serve at our launch soiree. This is what it’s all about.

I stole a moment during the evening to just observe. To look around the room, through the soft-lens of a tear or two, as the place hummed with happiness and possibility. I overheard the birthing coos of IDEAS. Of event concepts, collaborations, workshop ideas, and even just straight up excuses to come and hang out. I felt proud that we’d managed to create a totally original environment as a birthplace for totally original ideas, and felt the familiar electricity of exploration (more on that later) shoot through my veins. In a world that often trades on credits of fluster and busyness, we were building a dynamic deep work oasis with values of community, connection, collaboration and lifestyle.

Here was the economy we exist to foster and expand. This is why we started. We’re so happy you’re here for the ride.
